I have searched and think I found a good homemade alternative from a website called Magical Recipes. So here we go:

Ingredients

2 20 ounce cans Dole crushed pineapple with juice

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons lime juice

1/3 cup sugar

1 and 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped

Instructions

Drain pineapple; reserve 2 tablespoons juice. Set aside.

Place pineapple, lemon juice, lime juice, sugar and reserved pineapple juice in blender or food processor container; cover and blend until smooth.

Pour into two 1-quart freezer zipped bags and store bags flat in freezer.

Freeze 1-1/2 hours or until slushy.

Stir pineapple slush gently into whipped cream until slightly blended, in large bowl.

Return to freezer until completely frozen, about 1 hour.

I have not tried this yet, but I will soon!!! They also say that you can buy the exact mix from Amazon that Disney uses! It is a Dole Pineapple Soft Serve Mix, you will need a soft-serve machine, but how incredible would that be to make the real thing at home!!!

If you have made Dole Whips at home and have a recipe, let us know.

This one is very easy – as long as you have a waffle iron at home…

On our last trip to Disney World I had my first fruit waffle from Sleepy Hollow. All I can say is delicious!!! It was so good! And it looked so easy to make I vowed to try it as soon as I got home.

So here is what you need:

Waffle iron – this is a necessity – you can’t make waffles any other way. The ones that are round and flip are the best as they cook the waffles more evenly

Waffle mix – you can find a scratch recipe, but the mix in a box will work just fine – follow the instructions and use the ingredients called for

Nutella

Fresh fruit of your choice – the original uses strawberries, blue berries and bananas

What to do:

Prepare the waffle per the instructions and using the waffle iron. Be sure it is set to medium, so that it is not too soft or too crispy

As soon as the waffle is ready, spread with a thick layer of Nutella. This needs to be done while it is hot so that it will melt into the squares of the waffle

Add pre-cut fresh fruit

Eat and Enjoy!

I am a on a bit of a Frozen kick this week… since we just attended Disney on Ice – Frozen this past weekend. So I thought now would be a good time for a Frozen inspired snack. I have looked and looked and most snacks that are out there are just cookies or cupcakes, etc decorated like Frozen. And while those are great, I was looking for something more ‘inspired’ by the movie and the characters. And the winner is… ‘Ice’ Rock Candy.

What you will need:

2 cups water

1 cup white corn syrup

3 1/2 cups sugar

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

3 drops of blue gel food coloring

What to do:

Boil the mixture and then continue stirring it on the heat until it reached 300 degrees F (used a candy thermometer to measure the temp). At that point, pour it into a tray to cool. It will hardened up in about an hour and then smash it to pieces.

Can’t you just picture these pieces sticking out of Marshmallow’s back???

Have fun!

What is you favorite snack at Disney? Well I have quite a few, but the croissant donut, better known as the cronut is very high on that list! I have recently stumbled across a simple homemade version that anyone can make at home, so I have to share with all of my fellow cronut lovers!

What you will need:

Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – each tube will make 4 cronuts + holes

Powdered sugar – 6 cups

Vanilla Extract – 1 tsp

Milk – 1 cup

Sugar – 2 cups

Cinnamon – 1 tbsp. (or heavier depending on your preference)

What to do:

Open the tube of crescent rolls and spread out the dough. It is perforated into two half each of which will make 4 crescents. Separate into the two halves but do not separate further.

Fold each half into thirds and use a rolling pin to roll flat. Take each piece of dough and repeat the process by folding into thirds again and rolling to the desired size and thickness.

At this point you should have two pieces of dough that are rolled to approximately 6″ x 12″. From this cut two donut shapes using cups, bowls, etc from your home. Be sure to cut out the center as well, a medicine cup works well for this. With the left over dough, you can always cut more holes!!!

Now you should have four cronuts and four or more holes. Time to cook. Heat your oil on high to medium/high before cooking. Place the cronuts in the oil and watch until they turn golden brown. Flip every 30 seconds or so to get an even fry. Remove an place on a paper towel to cool.

Mix the powdered sugar, vanilla extract and milk in a bowl and whisk until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Place each still warm cronut in the liquid icing, coating both sides. Then immediately move to the cinnamon/sugar bowl coating both sides.

Repeat with all cronuts and holes.

Voila! Homemade cronuts! Now eat and enjoy!!!
